Approximately 225 families will enjoy a day at the Memphis Zoo along with 15 nonprofit organizations that serve the Memphis area. The premiere event is designed to open the doors of communication between families and various service organizations. "This is an event to focus families on fun," said Pat Jessup, the event organizer, "combined with needed information."
The Pig and Whistle will serve a buffet starting at 4 p.m.
The nonprofit agencies actively participating in this event are: The Memphis Center for Independent Living, Tennessee Voices for Children, Learning Disabilities Association, Special Kids, Tennessee Early Intervention System, Boling Center/Harwood Training Center, Mid-South Association for Retarded Citizens, Parents Encouraging Parents, Children Special Services, Les Passees, Kids and Nurses, and, United Cerebral Palsy.
