ADAPT Press Conference at State Office Building

ADAPT will conduct a Press Conference on May 12, at noon, at the Donnelley J. Hill State Office Building, 170 N. Main Street, on the plaza. The 103 people who have occupied the building will leave the building at that time, and tell their story. 103 people, most with disabilities, have been in the Governor's Memphis office since yesterday at 11AM. They are protesting Tennessee's pitiful performance in creating home and community-based services for people with disabilities and older Tennesseeans. ADAPT wants the Governor to agree to make some changes, providing alternatives to nursing homes and other institutions.

Contrary to Governor Sundquist's Press Secretary assertion that the Governor was willing to talk to the protesters, ADAPT members who occupied the 12th floor office will explain exactly what transpired between the Governor and ADAPT.

The 103 ADAPTers who have been occupying the building will be on hand to answer questions.
