Reeves meets his true Diagnosis: TINYTIMISM supercriptus
tinytimism supercriptus: [Old English] (thanks "No Pity" by Joseph Shapiro)
A--a severe "affliction" and "sick" condition / belief which only a miracle and lots of expensive research can cure...
B--condition that only requires great gratitude for crumbs and water (like Tiny Tim), and those who express their gratitude in a way that pleases the oppressors are called "brave", "heroic", " inspirational" ... however those who oppose the systematic oppression and negative attitude of society are branded "radicals", "ungrateful", "hostile" or ADAPT/other civil rights group.
Example: Christopher Reeves lobbying Congress reveals that he has been entirely "infected" with tinytimism supercriptus because his mouth keeps spouting "More Money, More Research!" which he plays poster child looking for a way for him to walk and is grateful for his crumbs of full time nurses on staff and stand by while millions of people with disabilities are denied equal health care, denied equal access,Kervorkian killing hundreds ofour family members and encouraging us and society to do so. DNR's, denied adequate, accessiable and visitable housing, etc...in the name of the species reeveass tinytimism supercriptus....(long title for the breed name GREED for MONEY)
TRUTH is....Equal Access is an ATTITUDE,
NOT research,
NOT money,
NOT another charity,
NOT another "telethon",
NOT another PR stunt for $$$
NOT Just a RAMP....
>>>>>>>>>> ACCESS is a CIVIL RIGHT!!! <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Peace to You and for a society free of barriers;
Namaste...honor and respect to you;

Some Feedback on the Memphis ADAPT Action
[Note from Zen Garcia: I wanted to focus this article again on ADAPT and MiCASA simply because I am so passioned about persons dying and struggling in deathly environments. I have written much in this area and will continue to do so. However, I want to present something a little different this month. Having put together all my paperwork from the Memphis ADAPT trip and having read over some of the journals from the people we sent up, I decided to share with you a story a friend of mine wrote. Her name is Brenda Crayton and this was here first action. She has worked in and knows first hand the horrors of life in a nursing home. Some of the her stories will make you utterly disgusted, but anyway here it is:]
Actually, this action was my first action to really be a part of, or to understand what was going on, and to really relate to what people want and need. When I was a kid, when Dr. King demonstrations and actions were held I didn't understand. I thought things were the way they should have been. Getting on Greyhound as a companion to one of the disabled clients, I witnessed and had some shocking experiences with her in transferring and transporting. The sad look on her face and a team here and there, I wondered and thought this trip must be well worth it. And we reached Memphis and saw so many others with all kinds of disabilities and of all races. I felt they've got to have their rights, they deserve their rights.
My mind goes back to the nursing home where I worked for 6 years seeing the faces of so many young and old trapped individuals, having no say so over their money, if any money at all, what time to get up, no choice in what to eat. If it's still not what you want, there may be a substitute but if it's still not what you want, you're hungry the rest of the night. As my mind kept remembering those poor people trapped and seeing all the support from ADAPT, I started chanting and singing, "UP With Attendant Care, Down With Nursing Homes!"
There has to be changes made and I believe ADAPT and MICASA will be that difference. In the past, I declined a few trips in the future when I'm needed to assist and I'm available, I'll be right there. When I got home, my daughter said, "Mom I saw you all on the News way down here." I said, "I hope Washington heard us way up there." -Brenda Crayton
