News today:
- William Hudson, the President and General Manager of MATA, said today that all MATAplus riders will be ADA certified by Jan. 1, 1999. That means that all of the ridership of the paratransit service will have to be ADA eligible. He made this statement when the Barrier Free Memphis Society recommended that the current MATAplus application be updated.
- The BFMS survey results are in! Only 11.7% feel that MATA properly responds to complaints. We will make the survey available on the web in the next few days.
- ADAPT Action 1998 hairstyles. Dawn Russell has shaved her head down to an inch of hair. She feels that she is setting a trend for all of our visitors during the ADAPT Action.
- Furthermore, Dawn and myself have purposed that The Memphis Center for Independent Living change its name from May 9 to the 14th. In honor of the visiting "Independent Living Specialist of the year." We want to change the name to: "The Joe Ehman Memorial I & R Center for helpless cripples and handicaps."
Congratulations to Mr. Ehman who will be awarded a special prize during the 1998 ADAPT Action.
