Governor Sundquist lacks leadership
Last year Sundquist's own administration reported that their is a coming crisis in long-term care. The Governor has responded by regurgitating the ten-year-old rhetoric of the nursing home industry.
Friday, as the Sundquist campaign bus prepared to aimlessly wonder around Tennessee looking for a voter that cares, ADAPT members posed some simplistic questions to the Governor. It was clear that he deals with the long-term care issues completely through his administration because he does not have the most basic understanding of the problem.
We desperately need strong leadership in averting the long-term care crisis. Governor Sundquist has the luxury of ignoring the difficult problems and concerns of Tennesseans now, because this is his last administration. He is willing to take the nursing home lobbyist's money today, and let some one else deal with the crisis when it comes.
