Notes from the 1999 BFMS
City Council Soapbox
Introduction by Betty Anderson
The voices of people with disabilities are beginning to be heard, ont only locally but across the State and the country.
We are no longer a silent minority. We are going to fight for what is rightfully ours; the right to fair housing, to live in the community, not be stuck in a nursing home, the right to use public transportation and to access resturants, public events and places of entertainment.
We need public officials who are willing to help us achieve our rights and goals.
On October 7, wh have a chance to voice our opinion on who will be our next mayor and City Council members. I urge each one of you to vote in the upcoming election for candidates you think can help us achieve our rights and goals.
