ADAPT of Memphis - meeting notes and National ADAPT Conference Call

1. Discussion of Olmstead.

2. We need to personally reach out to:

   • Folks that live in the Independent Living Apartments

   • Inmates of nursing homes

3. Saturday, July 24 - ADAPT will have a fundraiser sponsored by the Jr. League. It will be a desert social like the "Taste of Freedom" last year.

4. Deborah Cunningham and the United States of America v. The Public Eye Deborah gave us an update and it looks like an out of court settlement with $1,000.00 penalty for being bigots and $5,000.00 for Memphis ADAPT for championing the rights of all Americans.

5. We thought reminders of the next meeting would be good. Melvin will help in calling everyone.

National ADAPT Conference Call

35 ADAPT chapters nationwide called in. Bob Kafka told us the next strategy meeting will be in Columbus Ohio, Aug. 26-29.

OLMSTEAD: The ruling could come at any time. It must be before June 28. Keep in touch with the news.

A front page New York Times "Health Benefits Bill Shows Power of the Disabled," (available at MCIL)

The Fall ADAPT action will be at the end of Oct. in Columbus OH.
