YOUR VOICE IS IMPORTANT!
Over 30,000 individuals and their families in Shelby County alone will be dramatically affected by the proposed changes in TennCare. We all know that. What the Tennessee Justice Center, Tennessee Healthcare Campaign and the
Memphis Center for Independent Living are working towards is collecting the personal stories from TennCare enrollees.
We need your support. The Memphis Center for Independent Living is having a day where TennCare Enrollees can come in and have help putting their stories put in writing.
ARE YOU A TENNCARE ENROLLEE? YOUR VOICE IS IMPORTANT!
Many Tennesseans do not understand why TennCare is important!
Your story will help everyone understand.
WILL YOU TELL YOUR STORY?

WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU AND HELP TELL YOUR STORY TO THE TENNESSEE COMMUNITY.

NOTE: Following is what the state of Tennessee has to say
about TennCare.
Today’s TennCare Program
1.3 million poor, disabled and uninsured Tennesseans Expands Medicaid using managed care to cover enrollees beyond traditional Medicaid.
Result: Most expansive Medicaid program in nation Fiscal Year 2005 expenditures expected to reach $8.7 billion.
Budget projections are worsening, with projected budget for Fiscal Year 2006, if left unchanged, at $9.8 billion.
Program lost $100+ million in federal funding this year
Conclusion
This is the most responsible plan under the current legal and economic circumstances. This is not the approach the Governor originally envisioned, but it’s our best chance for maintaining care for as many Tennesseans as possible. This plan is consistent with the Governor’s desire to protect children in the reform process. This is the level of care that we can afford without bankrupting the State. It is the fiscally responsible approach.
