CBA Waiting List as of November 1, 2002 ------------ 45,979 people
Nursing Home Waiting List ----------------------------- -0-
Nursing home occupancy rate -------------------------- 75% full 25% empty beds

Number of people who have moved out of nursing homes to live in the community using "Rider 37" as of November 1, 2002 - 1,189 people

69% are people 65-99 years of age (823 people)
31% are people under 65 years of age (366 people)

65% are female
35% are male

Rider 37 allows the money that is being spent on a person in a nursing home to be moved to the community care budget when the individual chooses to move to the community.

Advocacy strategies:

1. Tell legislators in your local communities that there needs to be increased funding for the CBA to eliminate the long waiting list. (DHS budget)

2. Tell legislators in your local communities bgvthat Rider 37 language needs to be permanent so the "money can follow the individual". (DHS budget)
