TennCare Enrollment to be cut
The Tennessee Health Care Campaign

Between now and the end of September, over 600,000 TennCare waiver eligibles will get a letter from TennCare, asking them to call their local county Department of Human Services to set up an appointment to get recertified. 

Between now and this time next year, the TN Health Care Campaign estimates that enrollment will be cut by 200,000 people. Ninety-eight percent (98%) will be poor or near poor. Many people who will be disenrolled will be children and those who are very vulnerable. 

Why is it important for waiver eligibles to respond to this letter? And if they do not get a letter, why is it important for them to call DHS and set up an appointment? 

If they do not respond to the TennCare letter, they will lose their TennCare. Their ability to get back on will be very limited. There is no open enrollment period in 2002-2003.
