The Memphis Center for Independent Living wins the Mid-South Arc 1999 Advocate of the Year Award.
This year the Memphis Center for Independent Living was flattered at the Mid-South Arc's Fourth Annual Awards Gala with the Advocate of the Year Award. The Advocate of the Year Award honors an entity that exhibits unusual dedication to increasing the awareness of those with disabilities and takes extraordinary risk for persons with disabilities in their mission to increase awareness.
The Gala was at the Wilson Word Hotel Friday night November 12th. The Community Celebration included a banquet, and keynote speaker Chris Burke from the hit television show "Life Goes On."
Also nominated for the Advocate of the Year were Dr. Tom Buggy, and Ms. Janet Forrest. Betty Anderson, a board member of MCIL, accepted the award for MCIL's Executive Director, Deborah Cunningham.
