MCIL Open House and Silent Auction

(MEMPHIS)For 23 years the Memphis Center for Independent Living has worked to facilitate the full integration of people with disabilities into the community not by changing the person but rather by changing the community. MCIL also works one on one to teach individuals advocacy skills and independent living skills through a peer to peer approach. What makes MCIL different and uniquely effective is that a majority of the staff and Board of Directors are people with significant disabilities. As an organization run by people with disabilities MCIL has a unique relationship with the thousands of lives it has impacted and the larger community.

You can help support the disability community through your contributions made by attending the MCIL Open House and Silent auction December 5, 2008 from 4-8pm. The MCIL Open House will include live music from the Specimens, hors d’oeuvre from the Peabody Hotel and a great Silent auction.

Items to be auctioned off include a subscription to Circuit/Playhouse on the Square, Accessible van rental from Wheelchair Getaways, dinner and a movie package, backstage pass to visit the Giraffes or Sea lions at the Memphis Zoo, baskets, massages, artwork and much more! To participate in the Silent Auction the $5 bid tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at MCIL.

Please contact Sandi with questions at 726-6404 or sandi@mcil.org. For an updated auction list you can go to our calendar page at www.mcil.org

As a Center for Independent Living, MCIL is widely known and respected among disability rights advocates across America and this is your opportunity to support this Memphis icon. So come and join us for a good time and support our efforts.
